Kings Park, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams competed in the St. Joseph's (N.Y.) Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Long Island's Sunken Meadow Park. The UB men finished in 16th place out of 20 teams on the day, and Purple Knights' women had a strong day taking eighth place out of 18 teams.

The top finisher for the Bridgeport men was sophomore D'vonne Troumbo (Franklinville, N.J.), who covered the 8K course in time of 30.45.8, good for 48th scoring place.

For the Purple Knights' women, as she been in every race in 2016, graduate student, Alina Sotnikova (Riga, Latvia) was the team's top runner finishing the 5K course in a time of 22:10.4, good for 23rd scoring place.

Next Saturday, the UB cross country teams will wrap up their 2016 seasons at the East Coast Conference Championship Meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.
