UB Track and Field Competes at West Point Tune Up
Penultimate meet of the indoor season.
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Competing for the penultimate time this indoor season, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams took part in the West Point Tune Up on Saturday.
Men's Recap
The Purple Knights were highlighted by a pair of first-place performances from freshman Edoardo Vandelli and graduate student Dante Lingley.
Vandelli rattled off a winning time of 1:07.36 in the 500-meter while Lingley sprinted to a triumphant mark of 6.97 in the 60-meter. Lingley's season-best effort was especially impressive as he defeated multiple sprinters from Army West Point.
Other notable finishes for UB included Marvin Fenwick Jr. placing 20th in the 200-meter and seventh in the triple jump (11.47) and Nicholas Migliarese going 14th in the long jump (5.76).
Women's Recap
Stephanie Lickteig and Anna-Mae Nellis served as standout performers for the Purple Knights on Saturday. Nellis, who was making her UB debut, posted a new school record in the weight throw (12.60).
Nellis also placed 10th in the shot put with a mark of 10.46.
Lickteig, meanwhile, registered a new PR in the mile. The freshman raced to a time of 6:07.39 to finish in ninth place.
Julia Fortune also competed in the mile, placing right behind her teammate in a time of 6:07.91.
Kara Sampath joined in with a pair of noteworthy efforts of her own. The Jamaica native finished seventh in the 200-meter (27.77) and sixth in the 400-meter (1:06.00).

The Purple Knights will compete one final time this indoor season at next weekend's Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
