Track and Field Teams Compete at Bucknell's Bison Open and Multi
Purple Knights post numerous personal bests over two-day event.
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Seeing action in their fourth meet of the indoor season, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams competed at Bucknell's Bison Open and Multi this past weekend (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
MEN'S RECAP
Sophomore John Panzera started things up for the Purple Knights in the heptathlon on Friday. The Connecticut native tallied PRs in both the 60-meter (7.53) and the long jump (6.08m).
Panzera followed that up with a PR in the 60-hurdles (8.98) on Saturday en route to an eighth-place finish overall (4,291 pts.).
More PRs were recorded on Saturday courtesy of Nickolas Barba and Tayshaun Bookal in the 60-meter. Barba sprinted to a mark of 7.24 while Bookal clocked a time of 7.56.
Freshman Edoardo Vandelli also performed well for the Purple Knights in the 800-meter. The freshman from Italy finished in fourth place with a time of 1:57.65.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Freshman Stephanie Lickteig ran well for the Purple and White on Saturday. The rookie posted a PR in the mile with a time of 6:12.44.
Kara Sampath competed in the 400-meter for the first time this indoor season. The graduate student opened up with a time of 1:06.70.
The 60-meter served as Bridgeport's busiest race with three competitors. Abety Kivagheni (8.78), Ricki Vogues (8.81), and Erica Lindsey (9.35) placed 28th, 29th, and 33rd respectively.

The Purple Knights will have a week off prior to competing at Boston University's David Henry Valentine Invitational on Feb. 14.
