BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their first conference opponent of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team suffered a 13-9 defeat to Georgian Court on Saturday night at Knights Field. The loss shifts UB's record to 2-4 this season (0-1, CACC).
It was a balanced affair for the Purple Knights as six different players combined for their nine goals.
Hunter Lizza and Matthew Levantini each tallied a team-high three points. Lizza registered two goals and an assist while Levantini put forth two assists and a goal.
Lizza now leads the Purple Knights in points (12) this season off seven goals and five assists.
UB's offense also featured Stephen Trama and James Napoli each scoring twice while James Goodrich added a goal and an assist.
Bridgeport's other statistical leaders included Brian Wolfe and Ryan Thomas each recording three caused turnovers while Connor Cullen grabbed a season-best 11 ground balls.
Cullen was terrific in face-off battles, finishing the night at 17-for-21.
A 5-1 stretch for the Lions in the second quarter followed by the first tally after halftime provided an 8-3 lead. They stretched that advantage to 11-5 after three quarters. UB was never able to cut the lead to less than four goals.
