Ashton Lankowski, Player of the Week | Liam O'Neill, Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After helping the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team to a season-opening win at Franklin Pierce, Ashton Lankowski and Liam O'Neill were each recognized with CACC weekly awards on Monday. Lankowski was tabbed as the conference's Player of the Week while O'Neill was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Lankowski served as the hero on Sunday as his goal with eight seconds left clinched a 12-11 win over the Ravens. The thrilling finish was Lankowski's fifth tally of the contest (game high). The Canadian sophomore also scored to give UB a 10-9 lead early in the fourth quarter after putting in three goals in the first half.
O'Neill played an equally important role in the Purple Knights' road victory. The junior did a little bit of everything for UB, finishing the contest with two assists and three ground balls. He also registered a caused turnover. O'Neill is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he piled up 32 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
Lankowski, O'Neill and the rest of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday at home against Molloy (11 a.m.).
