Men's Lacrosse Earns Last-Second Win at Franklin Pierce to Begin 2025

KEENE, N.H. – Seeing their first action of the 2025 season, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team earned a thrilling 12-11 win at Franklin Pierce on Sunday afternoon. The Purple Knights start their campaign at 1-0 for the second time in their three-year history.
In a game that featured nine different ties, it was sophomore Ashton Lankowski who served as the hero for UB. The Canada native scored the game-winning goal with just eight seconds on the clock to send Bridgeport home with the win.
Lankowski's final tally, which was assisted by Matthew Levantini, was his fifth of the game (game high).
Lankowski also scored to give UB a 10-9 lead early in the fourth quarter while finding the back of the net three times in the first half.
Following Lankowski, it was a committee of five different players that combined for seven goals.
Hunter Lizza was sensational in his UB debut. The graduate student finished with three goals and two assists.
Freshman Stephen Trama, also playing his first game as a Purple Knight, finished with one goal and one assist.
James Goodrich, Aidan Kirkpatrick and Levantini rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Defensively, Casey Dmochowski picked up the win in net. The sophomore transfer finished with 10 crucial saves in his first UB start.
Another notable performance was had by Joe Martin who nabbed a game-high six ground balls. He also caused a turnover.
As a team, UB finished with advantages in almost every statistical category. The Purple Knights won the ground-ball battle, 34-25, while tallying a 10-3 edge in caused turnovers.
With the game tied at 7-7 at halftime and 9-9 after three quarters, the Purple Knights outscored Franklin Pierce 3-2 over the final 10 minutes.
