Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Dominican, 16-3
Purple Knights now hold a 7-6 record this season, including a 4-3 mark in the CACC.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Propelled by nine different goal-scorers, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team posted a 16-3 win over Dominican on Saturday. The victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 7-6 this season, including a 4-3 mark in the CACC.
It was another dominant effort for Bridgeport which now owns four straight wins by at least 12 goals. The Purple Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead, led 8-2 at halftime and then led 13-2 after three quarters.
James Goodrich served as UB's top scorer with four goals while Dewey Schoenfelder and Ashton Lankowski each tallied a team-high five points.
Schoenfelder finished with three goals and two assists while Lankowski picked up two goals and three assists.
James Napoli joined in with four points of his own, including a team-high three assists. Matthew Levantini added multiple points as well with two goals. Napoli is ranked fourth in the CACC in assists this season (24).
Another highlight of the win was a dominant effort in face-offs. Connor Cullen won 14 of his 17 matchups while grabbing 12 ground balls. He has now managed 29 ground balls in his last two games.
On the defensive side of things, Ryan Thomas racked up a season-high seven caused turnovers and Pete Nazario finished with 13 stops in net.
Nazario is currently ranked fourth in the CACC in save percentage (53.7) and fifth in total stops (144).
Collectively, the Purple Knights earned a 31-19 advantage in ground balls.
