BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a tightly contested conference battle, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-11 matchup to Post on Wednesday. The loss moves the Purple Knights' record to 4-5 this season (1-2, CACC).
Down 7-3 at halftime, UB battled back in the final 30 minutes. The Purple Knights scored the first four goals of the second half to tie that game at 7-7.
After Post answered with two more tallies, Bridgeport once again responded with back-to-back goals to even the game back up at 9-9. Post went on to finish the game on a 5-2 run.
UB's attack was fueled by a sensational performance from James Napoli. The sophomore piled up career bests with four goals and six assists to finish with 10 points. He recorded back-to-back tallies in the third quarter to tie the game at 9-9.
James Goodrich and Aidan Kirkpatrick served as UB's other multi-goal scorers with two tallies apiece.
Ashton Lankowski, Joe Martin, and Dewey Schoenfelder also tallied goals in the contest while Matthew Levantini dished out a pair of assists.
Defensively, Liam O'Neill rattled off team highs in both caused turnovers (3) and ground balls (4).
Bridgeport's goalkeeper Peter Nazario finished with 11 saves in a complete-game effort.
