Men's Lacrosse Earns Dominant Win at Holy Family, 17-2
The Purple Knights led 8-0 after the first quarter, 13-0 at halftime and 17-0 after three quarters.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Propelled by 13 different goal-scorers, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team tallied a 17-2 win at Holy Family on Saturday. The victory pushes the Puprle Knights' record to 4-4 this season.
It was a dominant effort from start to finish for UB. The Purple Knights led 8-0 after the first quarter, 13-0 at halftime and 17-0 after three quarters. UB didn't allow a goal until 2:25 left in regulation.
Daniel Orebiyi led the balanced offense with a hat trick while James Napoli and Ashton Lankowski each had two goals. Lankowski also dished out four assists to finish with a team-high six points.
Remarkably, after Orebiyi, Napoli and Lankowski, Bridgeport had 10 different players with one goal apiece. Dewey Schoenfelder put in one of the tallies, in addition to posting four assists.
As a team, the Purple Knights won 19-of-22 faceoffs. Connor Cullen led the way with a 14-for-15 effort.
Goalkeeper Peter Nazario didn't see a shot on net en route to his fourth win of the season.
It was an impressive all-around effort for the Purple Knights as they finished the game with a 53-33 advantage in ground balls and a shooting edge of 55-9. UB also totaled a season-high 22 caused turnovers.
