WILMINGTON, Del. – Beginning conference play with a tough away matchup, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team was defeated at Wilmington on Saturday by a score of 23-11.
The Purple Knights were led offensively by a pair of five-point efforts. Sophomore James Napoli went off for three goals and two assists while freshman James Goodrich tallied a goal and four assists.
Matthew Levantini and Aidan Kirkpatrick joined in with two tallies of their own while Levantini also dished out an assist.
Ashton Lankowski, Luca Runyan and Daniel Orebiyi rounded out UB's attack with a goal apiece. Runyan also grabbed an impressive six ground balls.
Speaking of ground balls, sophomore Liam O'Neill picked up a team-high eight of them.
On the defensive side of the ball, Brian Wolfe racked up a game-best four caused turnovers.
UB goalkeeper Peter Nazario finished with 16 saves in the losing effort.
