ALBANY, N.Y. – Playing their first game of the 2024 season, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team was defeated at Saint Rose on Sunday by a margin of 21-5.
It was a tough second half that doomed the Purple Knights in their first action of the spring. Holding a 9-5 lead at the break, Saint Rose rattled off a 12-0 stretch to close the game.
Bridgeport's attack was fueled by five different goal-scorers. Junior Tyne Hewlette led UB in total points with a goal and two assists while Daniel Orebiyi registered one tally and one helper.
James Goodrich, Ashton Lankowski and Aidan Kirkpatrick each recorded one goal.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Peter Nazario racked up 17 saves while leading the Purple Knights with five ground balls. The Purple Knights had eight different players tally at least one caused turnover in the game.
