Men's Basketball's Cisse Voted to All-Met First Team
Aliou adds to collection of awards after sensational junior season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Further adding to his collection of accolades following a phenomenal junior campaign, Aliou Cisse of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team has been voted to the 2024-25 All-Met First Team as announced by the Met Basketball Writers Association on Thursday.
Cisse, the CACC Player of the Year, helped the Purple Knights to one of their best seasons in recent memory. The Yonkers, N.Y. native, who was also named All-Region by both the D2CCA and NABC, averaged 19.5 points for a UB team that won the CACC championship and earned a berth into the NCAA East Regional. He ranked second in the league in scoring and seventh in field-goal percentage (53.7).
Cisse was the epitome of consistency this season, scoring in double figures in 29 of his 30 games while racking up 11 20-point efforts. He also poured in a season-high 37 points in a win at STAC on Nov. 19.
In addition to the offensive numbers, Cisse also had four double-doubles and finished with averages of 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per contest. He had 10 games this season with at least 15 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Cisse followed up his terrific regular season by being named the Most Valuable Player at the CACC Tournament. He helped UB to wins over Chestnut Hill, Dominican and Post en route to the program's first conference title since 2015.
Cisse averaged a team-high 15.7 points in the CACC Championship where UB had to tally three triumphs over higher-seeded teams to nab the trophy.
