Men's Basketball Dominates Holy Family for Fourth Straight Win
Purple Knights knock in 17 three-pointers (season high).
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Entering the day on a three-game winning streak, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team continued the momentum on Saturday with one of their most decisive victories of the season.
The Purple Knights' 99-78 triumph over Holy Family pushes their overall record to 13-10 overall and 8-4 in the CACC. UB is also now 7-4 inside Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium this season.
Bridgeport's dominance over the Tigers was highlighted by a season-best output from three-point range. The Purple Knights made their most three-balls (17) of the year while also tallying their best percentage (48.6%).
UB's impressive Saturday also featured their second-highest assist total (27) and a plus-21 rebounding margin (season high). Bridgeport leads the CACC in almost every rebounding category this season.
UB led wire-to-wire against Holy Family, including a 13-point lead at halftime. The Purple Knights were up by as many as 18 in the first half before stretching that edge to as high as 35 points in the second half.
Bridgeport's biggest advantage of the day came courtesy of a 50-28 run across 14:15 of the second half.
UB's bench was once again a large bright spot on Saturday. Bridgeport's depth outscored Holy Family, 57-31, while shooting 9-for-25 from the beyond the arc.
Individually, it was five in double figures that piloted the Purple Knights. Nick Traill led the way with 15 points off five three-pointers while Aliou Cisse tallied 14 on 5-of-9 shooting.
Traill also led the home squad with five steals while Caleb Jacobs dished out a team-high eight dimes.
Off the bench, Gabe Charleston finished with 13 points and eight rebounds while Justin Hendrick and Jaden Palmer each added a dozen courtesy of four three-pointers apiece.
All in all, the home team shot 38-of-82 (46.3%) from the floor while attempting 22 more shots than Holy Family.
