Men's Basketball Storms Back in OT Win at Bloomfield, 104-98
Purple Knights have now won three straight games.
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Despite trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team recorded a 104-98 overtime win at Bloomfield College on Wednesday night. The dramatic victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 12-10 overall this season and 7-4 in the CACC. UB is currently on a three-game winning streak.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Aliou Cisse, who ranks second in the CACC in scoring (20.3 ppg) this season, was marvelous against the Bears. The junior poured in 30 points on 12-of-20 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Cisse, who has made 36 more field goals than any other player in the CACC this season, is currently ranked in the top 10 in the league in both steals (1.9 spg) and field-goal percentage (53.8).
Malikai Delgado (18 points), Jason Edokpayi (16 points) and Caleb Jacobs (11 points) all joined Cisse in double figures off the bench. UB's bench registered a 55-21 advantage over Bloomfield's bench.
Nick Traill served as Bridgeport's leader in assists in the game with four. He is tied for second in the CACC in helpers per game (4.1) this season.
The Purple Knights, who lead the CACC in almost every rebounding category, were dominant on the glass once again. UB managed 17 more boards than Bloomfield, which led to 25 second-chance points and 19 more field-goal attempts.
UB's defense racked up 17 more steals and 25 forced turnovers as they continue to lead the CACC in both of those categories this season.
Bridgeport reached 100 points in a game for the fourth time in 2024-25. The Purple Knights continue to lead the CACC in scoring this season (86.8 ppg) by a wide margin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Purple Knights posted a 14-0 run to take a six-point lead with 53 seconds left in the second half. Bloomfield responded with six straight points to send the game into overtime at 89-89. UB seized momentum in extra time with a 7-1 mini-run that yielded a seven-point lead with 2:29 left. The Purple Knights made six of their eight shots in OT.
UB trailed for the majority of regulation, including a game-high deficit of 42-27 at the 6:14 mark of the first half.
The Purple Knights were down 10 at halftime and only took their first lead of the second half at 84-83 with 1:43 left in the game. In fact, that was UB's first lead since 12:34 remaining in the first half.
