Men's Basketball Drops Contest to Adelphi, 88-82
Purple Knights move their record to 5-5 this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the first of two non-conference games in a three-day span, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team dropped an 88-82 matchup to Adelphi on Saturday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 5-5 this season.
Bridgeport battled tough against one of the top teams in the east region. The Purple Knights led by six points at halftime while the game was also tied at 63-63 with 9:50 left in the game.
The Panthers made their move with a 20-7 run that provided an insurmountable 83-70 lead with 3:21 remaining.
On an individual level, Aliou Cisse was once again at the forefront for UB. The junior racked up a game-high 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting.
Cisse, who continues to lead the CACC in scoring this season (22.4 ppg), also finished the game with five rebounds and three steals.
Following Cisse, two more Purple Knights put together double-figure efforts. Caleb Jacobs tallied 16 points while Malikai Delgado chipped in 13 off the bench.
Michel Ndayishimiye also performed well off the bench with nine points.
Jason Edokpayi neared his second double-double of the season courtesy of eight points and 10 rebounds. He continues to lead the Purple Knights in boards per game (6.7) and blocks per game (1.7) this season.
Bridgeport's collective numbers featured a 19-of-23 effort from the free-throw line, signifying their highest percentage of the season (82.6%).
The Purple Knights also finished 27-for-70 (38.6%) from the field and 9-of-29 (31.0%) from long range.
