Men's Basketball Falls Short at Post, 111-100
Purple Knights move their record to 5-4 overall this season and 1-1 in conference play.
WATERBURY, Conn. – Coming off a decisive win over Bloomfield on Tuesday night, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team suffered a 111-100 loss at Post University on Saturday afternoon. The defeat moves the Purple Knights' record to 5-4 overall this season and 1-1 in conference play.
In another fast-paced, up-and-down affair, it was UB's most balanced effort of the year thus far. Bridgeport had six players finish in double figures while also getting 51 points off the bench.
Aliou Cisse and Justin Hendrick each had 19 points to lead the way while Malikai Delgado and Jason Edokpayi both had 13.
Amadou Traore and Caleb Jacobs rounded out the six in double figures with 12 points apiece.
Calebs and Cisse also both tallied a team-high three steals while Hendrick led UB with six boards. Edokpayi recorded both of Bridgeport's blocks in the game.
Three-point shooting played a large role in the outcome of the contest. Post knocked in 15 of its 34 (44.1%) attempts from long range while UB finished 4-for-20 (20%) from beyond the arc.
Both squads fared well at a very busy free throw line. Bridgeport made 30-of-38 (78.9%) from the charity stripe while Post finished 22-of-28 (78.6%).
The Purple Knights earned a 51-15 advantage in bench points while Post scored 36 points off 25 UB turnovers. Bridgeport never led in the game.
