Men's Basketball Barrels Through Bloomfield, 106-82
Victory pushes the Purple Knights’ record to 5-3 this year (1-0, CACC).
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing in their first conference game of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team posted a 106-82 win over Bloomfield College on Tuesday night. The victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 5-3 this year (1-0, CACC).
Bridgeport's fifth triumph of the 2024-25 campaign was highlighted by a barrage of three-pointers in the second half. In fact, the Purple Knights knocked in 11 from long range after halftime while outscoring Bloomfield, 60-41, across the final 20 minutes of regulation.
All in all, Bridgeport finished a season-best 14-of-33 from beyond the arc. The Purple Knights achieved a new season-high point total while reaching triple digits for the third time this year.
Individually, Caleb Jacobs, remarkably neared a triple-double. The senior guard posted a stat line of 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Jacobs' boards and helpers were both career bests.
Nick Traill also dished out eight assists, in addition to eight points and three steals.
Aliou Cisse served as Bridgeport's top scorer on Tuesday with 16 points. He also matched Jacobs' nine rebounds to go along with two steals and a block.
Cisse now ranks second in the CACC in points per game (21.6) this season while shooting 56.6% from the field (4th, CACC).
Jason Edokpayi and Amadou Traore joined in with double-figure efforts of their own versus the Bears. Edokpayi chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks while Traore added a 10-spot off the bench.
Bridgeport's defense finished the contest with 12 steals and 21 forced turnovers. UB limited Bloomfield to 13-of-43 shooting (30.2%) in the second half.
The Purple Knights also racked up a season-best 30 assists on 44 made field goals. UB's 59 total rebounds also served as a new season high.
