Men's Basketball Beaten by Bentley, 80-65
Purple Knights' record falls to 4-3 this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final tune-up prior to conference play beginning early next week, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team suffered an 80-65 defeat to Bentley University on Sunday afternoon. The Purple Knights, who played without their leading scorer, Aliou Cisse (23.5 ppg), see their record fall to 4-3 this season.
Gabe Charleston provided a nice spark for UB against the Falcons. The Cromwell, Conn. native knocked in four three-pointers en route to a career-high and game-high 22 points (9-for-15 FG).
Jason Edokpayi served as the other Purple Knight in double figures as he finished with 11 points off the bench. He also led Bridgeport with seven rebounds.
UB's other statistical leader was Nick Traill, who tallied team-highs in assists (3), steals (3) and blocks (1). Two other Purple Knights also recorded one block in the game.
Bridgeport's bench served as a highlight as well on Sunday, combining for 31 points. Jayson Handy chipped in seven off the bench on 3-of-5 shooting.
The Purple Knights, who outscored Bentley in the second half (45-42), finished 24-of-68 (35.3%) from the field and 5-for-22 (22.7%) from three-point range.
