Purple Knights Again Force Overtime But Host Felician Pulls Out The Win, 102-97, In CACC Men's Action
Purple Knights Have Now Played Extra Time In Three Of Their Last Five Games
Rutherford, N.J.-For the second straight outing and third time in the last five contest, the University of Bridgeport men's basketball played an overtime game, and unfortunately for Purple Knights' fans, UB has finished on the wrong side of the ledger in all of the games, as on Saturday, Bridgeport dropped a 102-97 decision at Felician University on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 10-16 overall and 6-11 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The host Golden Falcons are now 6-19 overall and 2-14 in the CACC.
Bridgeport's Matt Tuner (Grad., Trumbull, Conn.), who forced overtime by tying the game at 88-88 with a three-point shot with seven seconds to play in regulation, led his team with 25 points.
Turner was joined in double-digit scoring by three teammates, as senior Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) had 19 points, Mason Williams (Sr., Voorhees, N.J.) reached double figures for the tenth straight game with 14 points, and junior D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) finished with a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Taj Childes (Harlem, N.Y.) directed the Purple Knights' offense to the tune of 12 assists on Saturday.
Felician's Etnik Peci led all scorers in the game with 35 points to lead the Golden Falcons.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team closes out its '22-23 season at Bloomfield College on Tuesday night with a scheduled 7:30 p.m. start.
