Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss Of 2017-18 Season At Jefferson On Sunday
UB Now 5-1 So Far This Season
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2017-18 season on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights were defeated by the hot-shooting Jefferson University Rams, 103-81, in a non-conference contest. UB is now 5-1 on the season, and the win evens the Rams' season mark at 4-4. On the day, the hosts hit 60.3 percent of their field goals, including connecting on 41.2 percent of their three-point shots. Jefferson also went to the foul line a total of 41 times in the game; while Bridgeport shot a total of only 19 free throws on Sunday.
Senior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 17 points on the afternoon. He was joined in double figures by juniors Dennis Green (Bronx, N.Y.), who had a season-high 15 points and Eric Rankin (Bronx, N.Y.) with 14 points.
Junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) had a team-high nine rebounds against the Rams.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will continue its road trip with a contest at American International College next Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mass. Tip-off is set for 1:30 pm.
