UB Men's Basketball Sees Three-Game Winning Streak Sanpped At Daemen
Purple Knights Fall, 78-69
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon in western New York, as the Purple Knights wrapped a tough, five-game road trip with a 78-69 East Coast Conference loss at Daemen College. UB is now 12-9 overall and 9-4 in the ECC. The host Wildcats, who have now won nine straight games, are 14-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play.
After a nip-and tuck first half that saw the Wildcats leading, 36-34, at the half, the trend continued early in the second half before Daemen took a 46-45 lead with 13:57 to play which they never relinquished.
Senior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Bridgeport in scoring with 18 points, and he was joined in double figures by classmates Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx. N.Y.) with 12 points and Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) with 10 points. Ahmed led UB in rebounding with nine boards.
Deion Hamilton led four Daemen players in double figures with 19 points for the winners.
The UB men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column at home, Next Saturday, February 13, when the Purple Knights host the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
