UB Men Pick Up Hard-Fought 75-70 ECC Win At UDC
Devon Elliott Leads Purple Knights With 18 Points
Washington, D.C.-Senior guard Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) turned in a solid all-around performance scoring a team-high 18 points with eight rebounds, six assists plus two steals and two blocked shot to help the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team to a hard-fought, 75-70, East Coast Conference road victory over the host University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Wednesday night in our Nation's Capital. With the win, the Purple Knights, winners of five of their last six outings, are now 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the ECC. The loss by the Firebirds snaps a five-game winnings streak, as UDC is now 6-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Bridgeport's Muhammed Ahmed (Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) fell just shy of a double-double with 13 points and a team-best nine rebounds.
Seniors Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) and Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) rounded out the UB quartet in double-digit scoring, as they each netted 12 points.
UDC's Kasim Chandler led all scorers on the night with 19 points, and teammate Geran Pope finished with a monster double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing a whopping 21 rebounds on the evening.
The UB men's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday night when the Purple Knights return home to face the Dowling College Golden Lions in East Coast Conference action. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Park City.
