BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Wrapping up a four-game series against Dominican, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team (5-18, 3-7 CACC) was swept in a doubleheader by the Chargers on Saturday.
GAME ONE – Dominican 14, Bridgeport 1 (8 Innings)
UB's offense was led by a 3-for-4 effort from Anthony Matturro and two hits from Vin Mallon. Matturo recorded a double in the sixth while Mallon tripled in the seventh.
Vincenzo Bruno pitched well in relief for the Purple Knights. The Italian right-hander didn't allow a run across three innings of action.
Dominican's opening win was stamped by a 10-run eighth inning.
GAME TWO – Dominican 6, Bridgeport 4 (7 Innings)
UB almost completed a comeback from a 6-0 deficit in the finale. The Purple Knights plated four runs in the seventh before leaving the tying run on first to end the game.
Matturro followed his terrific first game with two more hits in the second contest. He hammered an RBI single in the seventh for UB's fourth run.
Mallon also smacked an RBI single in the seventh inning before scoring on a sac fly by Christian Ortiz.
Anthony Armenia logged the Purple Knights' only extra-base hit in game two thanks to a lead-off double in the seventh.
Freshman Alex Bulger earned his second career start on the mound for Bridgeport. The right-hander yielded just two earned runs across six frames of work.

The Purple Knights will host Lincoln University on Wednesday for a noon doubleheader.
