WILMINGTON, Del. – In a third doubleheader across a four-day span, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Wilmington on Tuesday. The Purple Knights dropped contests of 4-1 and 8-5.
GAME ONE – Wilmington 4, Bridgeport 1
The Purple Knights were only able to muster four hits in the opener courtesy of three singles and a double. UB's offense also initiated three walks.
Bridgeport's hits came from Liam O'Neal, Jay Hamilton (2B), Anthony Matturro and Marcos Dominguez.
O'Neal and Matturro also both walked to reach base twice in the contest.
On the pitching side of things, Zach Ridgeway pitched extremely well in relief. The senior right-hander posted three hitless innings while striking out a pair.
GAME TWO – Wilmington 8, Bridgeport 5 (Seven Innings)
Despite climbing back from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game in the fifth, UB dropped the finale.
Bridgeport's bats came alive with eight hits in the seven-inning affair. Matturro stayed hot with a 2-for-3 performance. He hammered two doubles and knocked in a pair of runs.
Paul Fernandez also logged two knocks in the second game while Christian Ortiz tallied an RBI double in the fifth inning.
Ortiz currently leads the Purple Knights in batting average (.396), slugging percentage (.604) and on-base percentage (.515). He's also tied with Vin Mallon for the team lead in total hits (21).

The Purple Knights will host Felician on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
