MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On the final day of their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team dropped a pair of matchups to Southern Connecticut State on Sunday.
GAME ONE – SCSU 12, Bridgeport 5
It was a Liam O'Neal three-run home run in the third inning that highlighted UB in the opener. O'Neal also walked in the contest and currently leads the Purple Knights in base-on-balls (7) this season.
O'Neal also leads UB in runs scored this year with eight.
After the O'Neal long ball, Jay Hamilton and Marcos Dominguez each knocked RBI singles in the fourth inning.
Tyler Pennisi served as another strong performer at the dish with a pair of walks in the game.
GAME TWO – SCSU 11, Bridgeport 0
Jeremy Rodrigues put together a strong effort in the finale. The senior captain went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.
Rodrigues is now batting .341 this season in 44 at-bats with a .523 slugging percentage.
Christian Ortiz logged UB's other hit in the contest courtesy of a single in the sixth inning. Ortiz leads the Purple Knights with a .361 batting average and a .528 slugging percentage this season.
