Baseball Falls Twice to SCSU in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On the penultimate day of a 13-game stretch in Myrtle Beach, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team suffered a pair of defeats to Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. The Purple Knights dropped matchups of 6-5 and 12-5.

GAME ONE – SCSU 6, Bridgeport 5

Marcos Dominguez and Christian Ortiz each tallied a pair of hits to lead the offense while Jeremy Rodrigues hammered a two-run double in the first inning. Ortiz hit a two-bagger as well in the seventh frame.

Also on the attack, Tyler Pennisi and Andrew Sinclair each added singles while Liam O'Neal walked three times.

Collectively, the Purple Knights had their chances with eight walks initiated and 10 runners left on base.

GAME TWO – SCSU 12, Bridgeport 5

The Purple Knights piled up 11 hits and three home runs in the finale.

Vin Mallon smacked two of UB's long balls, launching a solo shot in the third and a two-run bomb in the fourth.

Jaden Echevarria also went yard in the game with a two-run blast in the third inning.

Mallon, Echevarria and Ortiz all finished with a team-high three hits in the game.
