Baseball Walks Off AIC, 4-3
Purple Knights win the finale of a four-game series.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Wrapping up a four-game series against AIC, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned a walk-off win over the Yellow Jackets on Sunday. The 4-3 victory improves the Purple Knights' record to 2-6 this season.
Marcos Dominguez served as the hero in the ninth as he knocked a two-out RBI single to help clinch UB's second triumph of the year.
Andrew Hafele scored the game-winning run after walking with two outs and moving over to second on a Vin Mallon base hit.
Liam O'Neill put UB on the board with an RBI double in the second inning while Anthony Matturro's run-scoring single in the eighth provided a 3-0 lead.
Bridgeport's total offense featured seven hits and seven earned walks.
AIC made things interesting with three runs in the ninth before UB walked off in the bottom half.
Alex Springer pitched well for the Purple Knights in his first appearance of the season. The Canadian scattered just three hits across five scoreless frames.
