MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Continuing a four-game series against AIC in Myrtle Beach, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team was swept by the Yellow Jackets in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Purple Knights dropped seven-inning contests of 10-2 and 2-1.
Game One – AIC 10, Bridgeport 2
Leading 3-2 through four innings, the Yellow Jackets plated seven runs in the fifth and sixth frames.
Jeremy Rodrigues hammered three doubles in the opener to lead the UB offense. He also scored Bridgeport's first run of the game on a Jaden Echevarria RBI single in the first.
Christian Ortiz knocked in the Purple Knights' second run as part of a 2-for-3 effort at the plate.
Vin Mallon and Paul Fernandez also recorded hits in the first contest of the day.
Game Two – AIC 2, Bridgeport 1
Brendan Palmer put together a quality start in a losing effort for UB. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs across six innings of work.
Offensively, the Purple Knights were only able to muster two hits in the contest. One of those knocks was a solo home run from Rodrigues in the fourth inning.
Liam O'Neill initiated UB's other hit via a single in the fifth.
