Bats Erupt in Baseball's 13-10 Win Over Queens
Purple Knights tally first win of 2025.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On the final day of a weekend trip to Myrtle Beach, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned a 13-10 win over Queens College on Sunday afternoon. The Purple Knights head back to Bridgeport with a record of 1-3 this season.
Bridgeport built up leads of 9-1 and 11-3 before clinching the three-run win.
Entering the game with a 13-10 lead, senior right-hander Zach Ridgeway came up clutch for the Purple Knights. The New York native posted a two-inning save without allowing a single run on just one hit.
Also on the pitching side of things, Joaquin Brasher picked up the win after allowing just three runs across six innings of work. He finished the game with six strikeouts.
UB's offensive explosion featured 15 total hits, four extra-base hits and five different scoring innings. The Purple Knights plated four runs in both the third and fifth frames.
Individually, Christian Ortiz registered a team-high four RBIs courtesy of a two-run double in the third and a two-run home run in the sixth.
Liam O'Neal and Vin Mallon each tied for the team lead with three hits in the contest. O'Neal's RBI triple in the seventh provided the Purple Knights with a 12-10 edge.
Jaden Echevarria, meanwhile, reached base a team-high four times. He walked three times and knocked a two-run single in the fifth.
Jeremy Rodrigues served as UB's final multi-hit player with a 2-for-5, two-run effort. He also walked once.

After a return trip home, the Purple Knights will return to Myrtle Beach for 10 more games from Feb. 28 - March 5.
