PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Continuing their busiest stretch of the season, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team split a doubleheader at Chestnut Hill on Monday. The 1-1 day moves UB to 2-3 in the CACC this season.
Game Two – Bridgeport 6, Chestnut Hill 3 (Seven Innings)
It was a terrific all-around performance for UB in the day's finale. UB's offense supplied more than enough runs while their pitching limited Chestnut Hill.
Jeremy Rodrigues continued his sensational junior season with two more home runs. He launched a three-run shot in the third inning before hitting a solo bomb in the seventh.
Rodrigues is now tied atop the CACC in home runs this season with eight. He also leads the Purple Knights in RBIs (16) and slugging percentage (.478).
Patrick Krempasky knocked in UB's two other runs. His two-RBI single in the fourth put Bridgeport up 5-0.
UB's starting pitcher Justin Nyarady made the most of the run support. The right-hander allowed just three runs across six innings, with a season-high nine strikeouts.
Joaquin Brasher tossed a scoreless seventh to earn his second save of the season.
Game One – Chestnut Hill 3, Bridgeport 2 (Seven Innings)
Anthony Pascale knocked in both of UB's runs in the first contest of the day. His 2-RBI single tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning. Chestnut Hill homered in the seventh to go up 3-2.
Krempasky, who scored on the Pascale single, added two more hits to his resume. He is now batting a team-high .360 this season.
Alex Springer pitched well for UB in his fourth start of the season. He allowed just one earned run in four innings of work. Tim Dolan also yielded just one earned run in two frames of action.
