Game 1
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Continuing a four-game, weekend series against Mercy University, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team split a pair of games with the Mavericks on Saturday.
Game Two – Bridgeport 13, Mercy 1
It was an offensive explosion for the Purple Knights in the day's finale. UB tallied season highs in both runs and hits (15) in just seven innings of work.
Anthony Pascale and Patrick Krempasky were dominant for UB, each finishing with three hits and three RBIs. Krempasky is now batting .347 this season with 10 RBIs (team high) and nine walks.
Vin Mallon and Liam O'Neal joined in with impressive efforts of their own. Mallon went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while O'Neal drove in two runs with a double.
UB's starting pitcher, Brendan Palmer, didn't quite need 13 runs of support as the right-hander allowed just one tally in a complete-game performance. He finished the contest with more strikeouts (5) than hits allowed (4).
Game One – Mercy 8, Bridgeport 6
UB had the offense clicking in the first game of the day as well. The Purple Knights hammered five extra-base hits, including three doubles, two triples and a home run. They ended up with 14 total hits in the game.
Senior outfielder Justin Leigh finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. He launched his second home run of the season in the first inning.
A total of five Purple Knights recorded two hits in the game with Pascale and Jaden Echevarria each hitting triples. Pascale finished the doubleheader 5-for-8 with five RBIs.
