Bio
Anthony Vitti, who is currently UB’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, has been a mainstay in the Park City since he completed a baseball career with the Purple Knights in the early 2000’s.
Starting out as an Admissions Counselor, Vitti has held seven different positions at UB for a total of 20 years of service. A 2003 graduate of Bridgeport, he quickly rose through the ranks and became the university’s Director of Athletics on July 18, 2014. He led the department from that point through June of 2019 in which he guided the Purple Knights to one of their best stretches in athletics history.
In fact, UB’s 2018 women’s soccer team won the school’s first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship with a 1-0 win over Grand Valley State on Dec. 1, 2018. In total, Bridgeport’s women’s soccer team won three NCAA regional titles from 2015-2018.
In addition to the team successes, which also included seven ECC Championships and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, Bridgeport has seen a litany of facilities upgrades on Vitti’s watch. UB built a new turf baseball field in 2019 while also replacing the synthetic turf on UB’s multipurpose field the four years prior.
Vitti’s time as Athletic Director also included an expansion of the university’s athletic strength and conditioning center with new equipment and a full-time strength and conditioning coach. He also spearheaded the addition of two women’s team locker rooms and a new shared bathroom for the locker room.
During Vitti’s final year as AD, 77% of UB’s student athletes earned over a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 161 students earned above a 3.25. Collectively, the department put together a mark of 3.37.
Prior to his time leading the department, Vitti served as both the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Business (2012-2014) and the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations (2011-12).
Prior to those promotions, Vitti also held positions of Coordinator of Athletic External Affairs (2008-2009) and Coordinator of Athletic Facilities and Equipment (2009 – 2011) during his athletics ascent.
Adding to his undergrad at UB, Vitti’s academic journey also features a Master of Science degree in Sports Business Management from Manhattanville College in 2009.
