Smullen, who originally arrived in The Park City as the Purple Knights’ head women’s lacrosse coach, became the department’s Assistant Compliance Director and was named an Assistant Athletic Director/Senior Women’s Administrator in October of 2012.

In addition to her administrative duties, Smullen served as UB’s first-ever head women’s lacrosse coach in 2010 and continued through 2015. She returned to the sidelines as head coach for the 2017 and 2021 campaigns. She is still currently an assistant coach with the Purple Knights.

Smullen was named the ECC and ECAC Coach of the Year in 2015 after posting a 12-4 record in her final season.

Prior to Bridgeport, Smullen worked at Quinnipiac University where she served as assistant women’s lacrosse coach in 2008 and 2009.
