Stuart and Vandelli Announced as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (March 24-30)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After several terrific performances last week, junior Emily Stuart of the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team and freshman Edoardo Vandelli of the men's track and field squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending March 30, 2025.

Stuart did a little bit of everything for a Bridgeport team that went 1-1 last week. She piled up totals of four goals, 11 draw controls (team high), seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. Stuart has risen the ranks in draw controls (now  7th in the CACC), having racked up 26 over her last five games. She now ranks second on UB in DCs (37) and third in caused turnovers (11) this season.

Vandelli was outstanding in his outdoor debut this past weekend at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. The freshman runner darted to a time of 1:53.24 in the 800-meter which currently sits as the fastest mark in the East Region this season (36th in the country). He also helped UB establish a school record in the 4x400 relay as he clocked a 51.26 anchor leg.
