Burawski and Rodrigues Awarded UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Feb. 24 - March 2)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following excellent performances on the diamond last week, Kaite Burawski of the University of Bridgeport's softball team and Jeremy Rodrigues of the baseball squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending March 2.

Burawski registered four fantastic outings as UB began its season with six games in Florida last week. The left-hander finished the stretch with a 1.48 ERA across 23.2 innings pitched. She also averaged more than a strikeout per frame, logging a total of 33 punch outs. Burawski capped off the weekend with an 11-strikeout, five-inning no-hitter against Walsh. 

Rodrigues, meanwhile, batted a team-best .308 during UB's four-game series against AIC in Myrtle Beach. He finished the weekend with three doubles and a home run while posting a slugging percentage of .769. Rodrigues currently leads the Purple Knights in batting average (.387), slugging percentage (.581), on-base percentage (.471) and runs scored (6) this season.
