Staruk and Lankowski Tabbed as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Feb. 17-23)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of outstanding accomplishments last week, sophomores Nova Staruk (gymnastics) and Ashton Lankowski (men's lacrosse) have been selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 23.

Staruk enjoyed her best stretch of the year last week during UB's meets at LIU and Ursinus. The Massachusetts native won the vault on both occasions, beginning with a 9.800 on Monday followed by a season-best mark of 9.825 just five days later. Staruk also made the most of her season debut in the floor lineup on Sunday with a 9.700 (t-4^th).

Lankowski served as the hero on Sunday during UB's 12-11 win at Franklin Pierce. The Canadian sophomore scored with just eight seconds on the clock as Bridgeport escaped with a season-opening victory. The thrilling finish was Lankowski's fifth tally of the contest (game high). He also scored to give UB a 10-9 lead early in the fourth quarter after putting in three goals in the first half.
