Kenney and Panzera Awarded UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Jan. 27 - Feb. 2)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following sensational marks in competition last week, Abby Kenney of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team and John Panzera of the track and field squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 2.

Kenney, who has now won three consecutive all-arounds for UB, has been superb to begin 2025. Most recently, the New Jersey native registered a season-best mark of 39.050 to win the all-around in a tri-meet at Yale this past Sunday. Kenney's afternoon, which culminated in the second-highest score of her career, featured a top mark on beam (9.875), a sixth-place score on bars (9.700) and eighth-place finishes on both vault (9.700) and floor (9.775).

Panzera, meanwhile, put together his best meet of the indoor season so far. The Connecticut native rattled off three PR's en route to posting a new career-best heptathlon score (4,291 pts). He started things off with new personal bests in both the 60-meter (7.53) and long jump (6.08m) on Friday. Panzera followed up with another PR on Saturday in the 60-hurdles (8.98).
