Kenney and Jacobs Tabbed UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Jan. 20-26)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of standout contributions last week, Abigail Kenney of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics squad and Caleb Jacobs of the men's basketball team have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 26, 2025.

Kenney was superb during the Purple Knights' first home meet of the season on Saturday. Facing a field of gymnasts from Cornell, West Chester and Centenary, Kenney won the all-around with a season-best score of 38.825. She finished in the top-five in each event, including first on beam (9.725) and second on floor (9.800). Kenney, who won the all-around last weekend as well, also tied for fifth on both bars (9.600) and vault (9.700).

Jacobs did a little bit of everything for the Purple Knights last week. The senior guard posted averages of 12.5 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in games against Dominican and Goldey-Beacom. He was especially impressive versus the Chargers when he poured in 17 points (8-of-11 FG) to go along with team-highs in both assists (4) and steals (4). Jacobs, who is UB's second-leading scorer this season (11.2 ppg), currently ranks fourth in the CACC in assists per game (3.7) and third in steals per game (2.1).
