Kenney and Cisse Named UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Jan. 6-12)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of sterling performances last week, juniors Abigail Kenney of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team and Aliou Cisse of the men's basketball squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 12, 2025.

Making her season debut, Kenney finished third in the all-around (38.625) during a tri-meet at Cornell (w/ Yale) last Sunday. Amongst the highlights, she placed fourth on beam (9.775) and fifth on floor (9.825). Kenney also registered an eighth-place mark on bars (9.500). Kenney is coming off a sophomore campaign in which she took home USAG All-America honors on both vault and beam.

Cisse continued his sensational campaign with two more strong performances last week. The Yonkers, N.Y. native averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds across two contests. He also chipped in three steals during UB's game at Queens last Tuesday. Cisse currently ranks third in the CACC in scoring (21.0 ppg) this season while shooting over 54% from the field. He is also producing averages of 6.5 boards and 1.9 steals per contest this season.
