Fortune and Vandelli Selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Dec. 9-15)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following standout efforts at SCSU's Elm City Challenge on Dec. 13-14, junior Julia Fortune and freshman Edoardo Vandelli of the University of Bridgeport's track and field teams have been selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Dec. 15, 2024.

Fortune earned one of UB's two individual wins over the weekend courtesy of a triumphant mark in the women's mile. The Rhode Island native posted a time of 6:05.84. She also competed on the Purple Knights' 4x400m relay squad that finished fourth with a mark of 4:44.69.

Vandelli was also victorious for Bridgeport at the Elm City Challenge. The Italian rookie finished first in the 600-meter with a school-record time of 1:26.46. Vandelli also joined in with his teammates for the 4x400m relay. UB placed first among DII programs in that race with a mark of 3:34.27.
