UB SAAC Participates in "Trunk or Treat" at Roosevelt Elementary

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In what has become a yearly tradition in October, the University of Bridgeport's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) participated in a "Trunk or Treat" event at nearby Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School on Thursday night.
"Trunk or Treat is always a great time to get into the Halloween spirit, but to me, it means more than that," said senior Mikayla Kennedy of UB's women's lacrosse and soccer teams. "Community service is important because we are participating in something bigger than ourselves. It is valuable to show up in the community that always supports us as athletes and allows us to grow as a community and personally."
Roughly 50 UB student-athletes took part in the SAAC sponsored event that was also attended by hundreds of schoolchildren. The Purple Knights decorated their cars and trunks, dressed in costume and provided candy and great memories to all the youth attendees. Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team also brought a net, allowing trunk-or-treat goers to take a shot, creating a more interactive and enjoyable trunk.
"Working with Theodore Roosevelt Elementary for 'Trunk or Treat' the past three years has given me nothing but joy, and every year I look forward to celebrating with the families," continued Kennedy, who is also SAAC's Event Coordinator.
