Hernandez and Vandelli Selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week
Paola Hernandez, Volleyball | Edoardo Vandelli, Men's Cross Country
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of outstanding performances last week, Paola Hernandez of the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team and Edoardo Vandelli of the men's cross country squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Oct. 13.
Hernandez was terrific across 12 sets and three matches last week. The senior hit .299 while posting averages of 4.42 kills and 3.00 digs per frame. She was especially efficient during UB's 3-0 sweep of Holy Family when she recorded 15 kills and hit .364. Hernandez continues to rank second in the CACC this season in kills per set (3.60).
Vandelli led the Purple Knights for a fourth straight meet to begin his collegiate career. The freshman from Italy tallied a 51st-place finish at the Bruce Kirsh Cup in Hopkinton, N.H. on Saturday. Vandelli rounded the course in a season-best time of 27:28.88. He has already been named the CACC's Rookie of the Week on two occasions this fall.
