Six from UB Named to CSC's Academic All-District Team (At-Large)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - In honor of standout years both academically and athletically, six student-athletes from the University of Bridgeport have been selected to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District Team.
On the women's side, it was Abigail Kenney and Hannah Barry of UB gymnastics and Danielle Kreitler and Tara Dimaio representing women's lacrosse.
For the men, it was Ryan Thomas and James Napoli of men's lacrosse earning the recognition.
Bridgeport's At-Large CSC Academic All-District Honorees
Hannah Barry | Senior | GPA: 3.7 | Psychology and Human Services
- Qualified as an individual for USAG Nationals (beam)
- Named to GEC's All-Conference Second Team (beam)
- Finished the year with an NQS of 9.795
- Selected as GEC's Specialist of the Week on March 6
- Recorded a season-high score of 9.875 at the All-American Challenge (@ Mohegan Sun, 2/19)
- Earned recognition as a GEC Scholar Athlete for 2023 calendar year
Abigail Kenney | Sophomore | GPA: 3.64 | Psychology
- First-team All-American on vault, second-team All-American on beam (USAG)
- Named second-team All-American on all-around (WCGA)
- Qualified as an individual for USAG Nationals (AA)
- Named first-team All-GEC on all-around, second-team All-GEC on vault, beam and floor
- Tallied the following NQS': vault (9.770), bars (9.710), beam (9.765), floor (9.805)
- Recorded season-high all-around score of 39.1500 at Brown (3/10)
- Named GEC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 17
Tara Dimaio | Sophomore | GPA: 3.59 | Nursing
- Named to CACC All-Conference First Team
- Led the CACC in caused turnovers with 46
- Tied for first in the conference in ground balls with 53
- Offensively, finished second on UB in goals (43) and total points (67) and first in assists (24)
- Named the CACC's Defensive Player of the Week on three occasions (4/15, 3/18, 3/4) and tabbed the overall Player of the Week on March 18
- Tallied a season-best 10 points (7G, 3A) in a win over Saint Michael's (March 9)
- Made the CACC's All-Academic Team
- Earned recognition on the CACC's Academic Honor Roll following both semesters
Danielle Kreitler | Graduate Student | GPA: 3.97 | Master of Business Administration
- Named to the CACC's All-Conference First Team
- Led the Purple Knights with 55 goals, 70 total points and 62 draw controls
- Also totaled 17 ground balls and nine caused turnovers
- Recorded seven games with at least five goals, including a season-high seven in a win over Felician (April 25)
- Scored the game-winning goal in OT to beat Barton in season-opener
- Made the CACC's All-Academic Team
- Earned recognition on the CACC's Academic Honor Roll following the spring semester
James Napoli | Sophomore | GPA: 3.56 | General Studies
- Led the UB offense in both assists (27) and total points (56) while also posting 29 goals (2nd on UB)
- Named the CACC Player of the Week on April 15 after recording 16 points (8G, 8A) and three caused turnovers in a pair of UB wins
- Voted to USILA's National Team of the Week on two occasions
- Registered a season-high 10 points (4G, 6A) versus Post on March 27
- Made the CACC's All-Academic Team
- Earned recognition on the CACC's Academic Honor Roll following both semesters
Ryan Thomas | Sophomore | GPA: 3.96 | General Studies
- Ranked second in the CACC in caused turnovers (32)
- Also totaled 26 ground balls, a goal and an assist this season
- Recognized twice by the CACC as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week
- Notched at least one caused turnover in 13 different games, including a season-best seven against Dominican on April 20
- Managed at least one ground ball in 14 separate contests and nabbed a season-high five versus Holy Family (March 23)
- Made the CACC's All-Academic Team
- Earned recognition on the CACC's Academic Honor Roll following both semesters.
Through the Academic All-America program, CSC names separate Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams at each the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III levels, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
