Men’s Soccer Places Nine Student-Athletes On CACC All-Academic Team

New Haven, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team had nine members of their 2023 squad recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and named to the CACC All-Academic Team Wednesday morning. All nine Purple Knights named, receive the honor for the first time and the program sees four more above the 3.5 GPA line than last year's total of five.

Four Bridgeport men's soccer members hit the perfect 4.0 GPA mark, those being Finance major Bruno Cakurs (So., Rujiena, Latvia), Business Administration major Joshua Lilly (Grad., London, England), Analytics and Systems major Josef Preci (Grad., Savona, Italy) and Business Administration major Andrea Soliani (Grad., Piacenza, Italy).

Business Administration major and captain Luis Rubio (Grad., Edinburg, Tex.) registered a 3.53 GPA. Following his lead were Business Administration major Maxamillian Kissel (So., Wiesbaden, Germany) with a 3.77 GPA, Artificial Intelligence major Ian Spetnagel (Grad., Denver, Colo.) with a 3.86 GPA, and a pair of Business Administration majors with 3.97 GPAs; Jakob Reinhard (So., Marburg, Germany) and Lucas Mah (So., Basel, Switzerland).

NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

♦ Seven student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages (University of Bridgeport's Bruno Cakurs, Joshua Lilly, Josef Preci and Andrea Soliani, GCU's Sebastian Derflinger, Post's Nick Anagnostiadis and Felix Nassen).

♦ Twenty-four (24) student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.

♦ Holy Family University's Sean Touey was named to the CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team for the third time in his career.

♦ Twenty-four (24) were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.

♦ The eight teams to qualify for the CACC post-season tournament combined to have 57 honorees make the all-academic team.
