Men’s Soccer Duo Recognized To CCA All-East Region Teams
Bridgeport’s Maximilian Kissel and Lucas Sousa earned spots on the 2023 CCA All-East Regions Teams
Flushing, N.Y.- Sophomore Maximilian Kissel (Wiesbaden, Germany) and Junior Lucas Sousa (Campinas, Brazil) of the University of Bridgeport have been selected to the 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CAA) Men's Soccer All-East Region teams. Kissel was named to the All-East Region First Team while Sousa earned Second Team honors. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Region Teams are selected by athletic communications professionals from the various NCAA regions of the country.
The Purple Knights ended the 2023 season as runners-up in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Final after falling in regulation to the No. 11 nationally ranked Post University. They finished the season with 10-7-3 overall record.
Maximilian Kissel earns the honor for the second year in a row after finishing the 2023 season as the top goal scorer in all of Division II men's soccer with 23 goals. He added two assists to finish with 48 points and registered the game winning goal three times for UB. Kissel earned CACC All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team Honors.
Lucas Sousa followed up his All-East Region First Team 2022 season with a great 2023 campaign. The attacking midfielder registered 18 points with eight assists and five goals. Sousa was the difference twice, scoring the game winning goal against Jefferson University and Caldwell University. Lucas was also named to the CACC All-Conference First Team.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
