Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team rebounded from a tough 1-0 home loss against Post University on Tuesday with a 4-2 road Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over the host Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Saturday afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love. Saturday's victory moves UB to 3-1-0 in the CACC and 4-4-2 overall. With the lost, the Griffins are now 1-2-0 in conference play and 2-4-1 overall.
Sophomore Maximilian Kissel (Wiesbaden, Germany) led the Bridgeport offensive attack in Saturday's win, as he picked up his second hat trick in the last three matches finding the back of the net in the minutes 5 off an assist from Kamrock Tovar (Jr., Stratford, Conn.), 59 from Lucas Sousa (Jr., Campinas, Brazil) and 86 (unassisted).
Bridgeport's other tally came from freshman Lapo Romieri (Milan, Italy) who scored his first goal in a Purple Knights uniform in the 68th minute to give Bridgeport a 3-0 advantage.
The hosts managed to cut the deficit to one at 3-2 with scores in the 69th and 72nd minutes before Kissel's third goal gave UB its final margin of victory at 4-2.
Bridgeport freshman goalkeeper Hugo Franceschi (Toulouse, France) made five saves on the day to pick up his fourth win of 2023 in net for the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team travels to Felician University on Wednesday afternoon for a big conference tilt that will begin at 12 noon.
