Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team wrapped up its 2022 regular season with a 2-0 non-conference home loss against the visiting Mercy College mavericks on Wednesday afternoon at Knights Field. With the loss, UB finishes the regular season at 10-5-3 overall. Mercy, the number 14-ranked team in the nation, move to 11-2-3 overall.
After a scoreless first half, the Mavericks scored in the 62nd and 77th minutes of play to earn the win.
UB outshot Mercy, 9-7, on the day, but the Purple Knights could only put three of those nine shots on frame.
Wednesday's match is only the second time all season the Bridgeport has not scored in a match.
UB goalkeeper Clement Anet (Grad., Cosse le Vivien, France) made four stops on the day.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will enter the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, November 1, as the number three seed, and the Purple Knights will host the number six seed, Alliance University, in a quarterfinal match at Knights Field that will begin at either 1 or 6 pm.
