Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team ran its winning three to three matches and raised its overall season record to 4-2-1 with a 1-0 home non-conference victory over the visiting College of Staten island Dolphins at Knights Field on Saturday night. CSI slips to 1-6-0 so far in 2022. The match was a physical affair that featured a total of 34 fouls between the two teams and eight yellow cards.
Sophomore Lucas Sousa (Campinas, Brazil) scored the only goal of the night, when he buried a penalty kick from the spot with just two minutes to play in the first half after a Staten Island foul in the box. Sousa lead the team in scoring so far this season with nine points on three goals and three assists.
In the match, the Purple Knights outshot CSI, 17-7, and dominated the run of play in the second half with an 11-2 shots advantage. UB also took nine corners to only two for the Dolphins.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Clement Anet (Grad., Cosse le Vivien, France) made two saves to record his second clean sheet of the week and of the season.
