Secaucus, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team is now 2-0-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and 3-2-1 overall after a 3-0 road win over Alliance University (formerly Nyack College) on Wednesday afternoon. Alliance is now 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the CACC.
The Purple Knights scored two goals late in the first half to head into halftime with a 2-0 lead, as sophomore John Louis (Bridgeport, Conn.) netted his first career goal with just under eight minutes to go in the first 45, and classmate Lucas Sousa (Campinas, Brazil) fired home his second goal of 2022 off a free kick with just over two minutes to go in the half. Sousa also assisted on on Luis' goal for a three-point day.
UB completed the scoring when a shot by freshman Maximilian Kissel (Wiesbaden, Germany) was saved but went in off an Alliance defender after a lovely pass from from sophomore Henry Greiner (Munich, Germany) in the 69th minute.
Alliance outshot the Purple Knights, 14-13, on the afternoon, but UB goalkeeper Clement Anet (Cosse le Vivien, France) was up to the challenge, as he made a Bridgeport career-high nine saves to record his first clean sheet of the 2022 season.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team returns to Knights Field on Saturday evening for a non-conference match against the College of Staten Island. Kickoff versus the Dolphins is set for 6:00 p.m.
