Rindge, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team hit the pitch for the first time in the month of September, as the Purple Knights traveled to New Hampshire to take on the Franklin Pierce University Ravens on a soggy Tuesday night, and the number three-ranked in the nation hosts defeated the Purple Knights, 3-0. Bridgeport is now 1-2-1 on the season, and FPU remains unbeaten at 5-0-0.
Franklin Pierce scored one goal in the first half in the 24th minute, and added a pair in the second stanza in the 50th and 79th minutes to come away with the 3-0 victory.
The Ravens outshot Bridgeport, 13-3, in the match, and finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore Lucas Sousa (Campinas, Brazil) and freshman Henry Greiner (Munich. Germany) had shots on goal for the visitors on Tuesday.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team returns to Knights Field on Saturday night to open its CACC slate against the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. to close out a doubleheader with the women's team.
